Lake Tahoe is definitely on our California Bucket list. That is to say, we have already checked it off the list by visiting once in 2015. And we loved it so much, that we plan on returning, possible in 2021.
At the top of the Sierra Nevada ridge, Lake Tahoe offers a stunning combination of emerald blue lake water, surrounded by mountain peaks. One of the best thing about the place is how much it changes throughout the year. Morphing between a winter wonderland during ski season, and an awesome swimming and water sports spot in summer and then back again, this place is truly spectacular.
Our own visit took place during late August, so we made the most of it by hiking around Lake Tahoe, and taking a swim too. We reviewed the Sand Harbor beach here, so check it out if you’re heading out to Lake Tahoe in summertime. And also, check out this post about what to pack when visiting Lake Tahoe during summertime. I don’t want to turn this post into a guide about visiting Lake Tahoe. This is a picture post, here to inspire us (and hopefully you as well) to visit the place. But since we’re doing a shoutout for past posts, I have to mention this post too about things to do in South Lake Tahoe.
Ok, picture time!
Emerald Bay – it reall is that gorgeous!
Sunset and sunrise over Lake Tahoe
Aren’t these pictures just stunning? And to clarify, we did not take them. As with our other picture posts, we’re making use of our stock photo subscriptions (available to us as web publishers). Unfortunately, when we were visiting Tahoe, the sky was gray from the ashes of nearby wildfires, so our pictures aren’t as pretty. Still, I hope you enjoyed these! If you did and care to share with others on Facebook or Pinterest, that will be great! In fact, here are a couple of pins you can use to do that with.
