La Tour Eiffel! Gracing the Parisian skyline, its name has almost become synonymous with the city itself. I've put together a small collection of some of my favorite pictures of the Eiffel Tower, hoping it will inspire you to visit the City of Lights... and bring your camera along!

27 awesome pictures of the Eiffel Tower that will blow your mind away

As I've been researching for our own trip to Paris - and then for writing additional posts about the city in this blog - I came across some stunning photos that I wanted to share here. There was one French landmark that really stood out as a remarkable object of photography: Tour Eiffel. Whether in the center of the image or just showing up somewhere in the background - it never fails to shine out as the real star of the show. Pictures of the Eiffel Towers are pictures of the essence of Paris itself. And vice versa, of course.

And if you're planning your own trip to Paris, don't forget to check my checklist of 15 places to visit in Paris as well as these 21 tips that can help make your trip to Paris so much better!

So, let's take a look at pictures of the Eiffel Tower in Paris

I will share my insights about each one and hopefully provide you with simple tips about locations, times of day and framing. Keep in mind that I am not a professional photographer. That said, I don't think you really have to be one to get great pictures of the Eiffel Tower with your camera or even your phone.

I'm going to start the list off with the more standard images, just to show what can be fairly easily achieved. I'll tell you where to get your classic shot and how. Now, it may not be all that breathtaking at that point, so bear with me and keep reading. The more stunning photos are further down this post.

To wrap up this post, I'll be sharing more resources about how to photograph the world's Capital of Romance, so stay tuned.

The classic shot: From Palais de Chaillot

Photo quality leaves something to be desired here, I know. However I wanted to share this one first as an example of the classic shot of the iconic landmark.

Tour Eiffel from Palais de Chaillot

When you visit the area, you will be walking across from the tower into the Trocadéro Gardens across from it. This formal avenue echoes the size and form of the gigantic monument as you make your way to the observation point at the Palais de Chaillot. This is where you need to go to get this classic angle -

Where to get your classic shot of the Eiffel

Get there on a sunny day and you will have your clear and pretty "full body" photo of the icon. Easy peasy. You can also move around on the promenade to get different angles of the same view -

Pictures of the Eiffel Tower in Paris... With some perspective

You can and should get closer to the tower. Possibly even go up to get the views around it (just remember, you can't actually get good pictures of the Eiffel Tower when you're standing on the thing...).

Even if you don't climb up, you can still get close to gain some interesting perspective.

To take this photo you don't even have to stand in line for the security checks. Just get there and stand by the fence that surrounds the French landmark. You will get this exact strange angle that give the structure a new and fresh perspective. This up close, there's also a lot of detail showing up.

You can get past the guards (it didn't take long when we were in late March) to get a view from underneath the tower.

Pictures of the Eiffel Tower: Framing your object

Let's take a look at some of the more beautiful photos of Le Tour. These use one interesting trick: Framing the huge structure with a softer natural element.

Finding trees is clearly not a problem when you're in Paris, so make the most of that element and bring the old tower to life with some fresh leaves.

Or you could use flowers too! With beautiful gardens along the nearby gardens, if you visit during springtime you absolutely should make the most of that -

We've covered some stunning photography already and you may have noticed some of the photos were taken on beautiful warm days while a couple were taking during autumn. Paris certainly changes during the different seasons of the year. Nothing is better than getting your unique shot of the Eiffel that shows that season.

The Creme De La Creme: The Eiffel during Sunset

Possibly the perfect honeymoon destination, Paris is said to be the most romantic place on earth. And what's a more romantic time of day than sunset? Combine the two and you get the most incredible pictures of the Eiffel Tower in Paris -

Note how the last photo incorporates another Paris classic: The Seine River. With the Eiffel being on the river bank, they two are just picture perfect together. You can photograph the Eiffel from across the other bank or - as I did with the following photo - from a boat tour -

These boats go by the tower all the time and this one was actually docked, so it wasn't very difficult to get both objects in one photo.

The Eiffel From a Distance

The first photos in this post were taken from a relatively short distance. To the point of going under the tower. However, long distance shots of the monument can be even more impressive.

From a distance, the Eiffel literally towers over the city of Paris. And it's truly a sight to behold.

If you can spring for a heli-tour of Paris, the results can really be mind blowing -27 Pictures of the Eiffel Tower in Paris that Will Blow Your Mind Away

Being a monument of that size means two things -

  • The Eiffel can be seen from many points in the city.
  • Your viewers will recognize it instantly - regardless of where it is in the photo.

Make the most of that. When you see the tower peeking from some spot, get a shot with it in the background.
